Limited Edition Xbox One X Battle Angel Alita
The release ofAlita: Battle Angel to physical media has created a bit of excitement for a couple of reasons. Number One:Alita: Battle Angel will be available in 3D packaged with a complete, three-format Blu-ray edition which doesn't come around too often. Number Two:Alita: Battle Angelwill be encoded with two HDR formats: Dolby Vision and HDR10+, an impartial approach to High Dynamic Range that can only be found on one other title:Robin Hood (2018).
Alita: Battle Angel releases to disc formats on Tuesday, July 13 following an early digital release expected two to three weeks before. Here's a detailed look at the specs, variations, and bonus materials offered with this upcoming title.
Specs
Alita: Battle Angel is presented in 16:9 (2.39:1) widescreen aspect ratio. The 4k Blu-ray, as mentioned above, provides HDR in Dolby Vision and HDR10+. What's more, the soundtrack is playable in Dolby Atmos. This is something the 3D Blu-ray and Blu-ray formats lack as they stop at DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 (which is a pretty darn good for audio, just missing the Atmos layer!).
On each disc, English Descriptive Audio 5.1 is also provided, as well as Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 and French DTS 5.1. Subtitles are offered in English SDH, Spanish, and French.
Bonus Material
Extras on the Blu-ray Discs include Alita's World, From Manga to Screen, Evolution of Alita, Scene Deconstruction, Motorball, Q&A with James Cameron, Robert Rodriguez and cast, Robert Rodriguez's 10 Minute Cooking School, and 2005 Art Compilation (2019). Please note the bonus material is also available with digital purchases but may vary according to the retailer. See below for more details on the extras.

4k Ultra HD Blu-ray
For some reason, FOX is not offering a 4k Blu-ray edition ofAlita: Battle Angel without 3D. This is great for 3D TV owners but not so great for 4k TV owners who don't or can't watch 3D (we've got five pairs of 3D glasses and the batteries are dead in every pair!). In any case, the 4k edition is priced about $10 more which is typical for UHD BD. The multi-format Blu-ray edition sells for $29.99 (List: $49.99) and includes all the bonus features and a digital copy to redeem from Movies Anywhere or iTunes.
