Sheila Welsh was on her way to pick up her grandkids at schoolhouse when she was killed in a random attack by a troubled young homo aptitude on murder and behind the cycle of a speeding, stolen pickup truck.

Zach Wittke woke upwardly that day — Sept. 25, 2017 — with killing on his heed, and texted a friend about the bloody rage in his mind.

"Thinking nigh killing people and myself every mean solar day is f–king getting to me and I have to act on it earlier it drives me f–king nuts," Wittke texted a friend that day.

Wittke said he was suicidal and wanted to kill others forth the way on that doomed day. He texted most killing a family in Arnprior, and on his way he concluded up slamming head-on into Welsh's meaty motorcar while she was stopped at an intersection. Welsh, 65, died instantly equally her little Chevy Aveo outburst in flames.

This is the police force narrative detailed in an efficient opening address Midweek by Crown Attorney Robin Flumerfelt on the beginning day of Zachary Wittke's starting time-degree murder trial at the Elgin Street courthouse.

"The evidence in this case volition be straightforward. Merely it will prove that the accused intentionally slammed his stolen Ford F-150 into a defenceless person in a small car, that it was planned and deliberate, and that he is guilty of first-degree murder," Flumerfelt told the jury.

Wittke, 22, who has pleaded not guilty, and sat in the prisoner's box with his head down as witnesses recounted his mad driving on that fateful day.

It was not the first time Wittke had stolen a Ford F-150 truck. On Jan. 12, 2016, Wittke stole the same model pickup and posted a Facebook live video featuring the steering bike and his wild, raging voice in the background.

In the agonizing video, he spoke without filter and recorded himself as he sped off,  warning that if police chased him, he'd kill anyone in his path. He actually dared the police to chase him, the jury heard.

"Listen to me correct now you motherf—kers. If you hunt me I will make certain somebody motherf–rex dies in a police pursuit. Do you lot understand me? I am homicidal and I am suicidal. I cartel you to f–king chase me and lookout how many people f–king dice. You may retrieve you're king sh-t with your bulletproof vest and your motherf–male monarch Crown Vic, you motherf–rex b-tch.

"If you f–rex chase me, somebody will f–king die today."

"I am putting this on Facebook because I want everyone to know that if you come across a constabulary pursuit and y'all see a grey Ford F-150 pickup truck, become the f–k out of the fashion considering I will slam head on into your f–king vehicle. I do non give a f–thou about your family unit. I practice not requite a f–k about killing y'all … I promise yous empathise me because somebody will die today," Wittke is heard saying on the agonizing Facebook video.

Wittke was sentenced to 18 months in jail for that 2016 example, and a calendar month out of jail, he stole some other Ford F-150 pickup and prepare out to kill someone, the prosecutor told the jury Wednesday.

The trial will turn on his country of mind at the time he slammed head-on into Welsh's compact machine on Daniel Street in Arnprior.

The defense force team, led by Paolo Giancaterino, is expected to call testify next week.

The trial resumes Thursday.
